🌍 Toothpaste Tubes: A Hidden Source of Plastic Pollution 🪥

Did you know that 1.5 billion toothpaste tubes are produced globally each year? While they may seem small, they contribute significantly to the growing plastic pollution crisis, especially considering that many are not recyclable due to their mixed materials (plastic, aluminium, and laminate).

Here in Mauritius, with a population of 1.3 million, it’s estimated that up to 3.9 million toothpaste tubes are used annually. Sadly, all of these tubes end up in landfills or, worse, our oceans, harming the environment for decades.

But there’s hope! 🌱At RIPE Factory Ltd, we are not just working on the RIPE Biomaterial (a sustainable alternative to plastic made from coffee ground waste) and the RIPE Cup, we have also developed the RIPE Toothpaste! The RIPE Toothpaste is the first and only natural and plastic-free toothpaste made in Mauritius!

A lot of people have already tested and loved it! In fact, 100% of people who participated in our pilot study, have said that they would be readily switching to the RIPE Toothpaste. By making the switch, we can take a step toward a more sustainable and eco-friendly future, right here in Mauritius and beyond.

🌱🏢 Corporate Sustainability in Action: Turning Waste into Innovation! ♻️

At RIPE Factory Ltd, we believe that businesses have the power to drive real change through sustainable action. That’s why we are excited to announce our collaboration with Real Estate and Currimjee Jeewanjee(Le Nenuphar), where we have installed two dedicated collection bins for coffee ground waste. This marks another step toward a more circular economy, where everyday waste is transformed into RIPE Biomaterial, our innovative sustainable alternative to plastic. 🚀🌍

Why Does This Matter?
Coffee ground waste is often discarded without a second thought, adding to landfill pollution. But what if we told you that this waste could become a valuable resource? By collecting and repurposing coffee grounds, we are reducing environmental impact while creating biodegradable, sustainable materials that can replace plastic. 🌿

A Special Thank You to Our Sustainability Champions!
This initiative would not have been possible without the dedication of Ravi Luckhun (Sustainability Manager) and Bhaveesh Bissessur (Sustainability Coordinator) from Currimjee Jeewanjee. We are grateful for your support in bringing this vision to life. 💚♻️

A Bigger Vision for RIPE Biomaterial
At RIPE Factory Ltd., we see waste not as an end, but as a beginning. We are working toward a future where businesses no longer just manage waste but actively contribute to solutions that replace plastic at scale.

Let’s Build the Future Together!
We are actively looking for more businesses that want to lead the way in corporate sustainability. If your company is interested in waste reduction, circular economy initiatives, and supporting innovative green solutions, we’d love to collaborate!

📩 Want to join us? Reach out via comment, DM, or email [email protected] to explore how we can work together for a greener, waste-free Mauritius! 🌏✨

🌱☕ From Waste to Innovation: How Local Coffee Shops Are Helping Us Build a Sustainable Future! ♻️

At RIPE Factory Ltd, we believe that real change happens through collaboration. That’s why we are thrilled to share the success of our ongoing partnerships with local coffee shops such as Maison Vieille in the Curepipe region! Together, we are giving a second life to used coffee grounds by transforming them into the RIPE Biomaterial—a sustainable alternative to plastic. 🚀🌍

Why Coffee Grounds?
Every day, coffee shops generate kilograms of used coffee grounds that often end up in landfills, contributing to waste management challenges. But did you know that coffee waste is rich in organic compounds that can be repurposed into high-value biomaterials? By collecting this “waste,” we are closing the loop in a circular economy and reducing our reliance on fossil-fuel-based plastics. 🌿

Celebrating Our Local Partners
A huge THANK YOU to the amazing coffee shop owners, baristas, and teams who have joined us in this mission. Your commitment to sustainability and willingness to collaborate for a greener Mauritius is truly inspiring. Your daily coffee waste is now part of a bigger movement! 💚♻️ We are currently collecting between 500g-1kg of coffee ground waste from Maison Vieille daily!
If you are in Curepipe, drop by this cute and vintage coffee shop at La Rue Lees Street. ;)

This Is Just the Beginning! Let’s Grow Together!
We are actively looking to expand this initiative and welcome more coffee shops, offices, hotels, and businesses to join our network. If your company is passionate about reducing waste and supporting local innovation, let’s connect!

📩 Drop a comment, send us a DM, or email us on [email protected] to learn how you can become a partner in this exciting journey. Together, we can transform Mauritius into a hub for sustainable innovation! 🌏✨
