AX Group has officially launched the conservation of three 17th-century masterpieces by Mattia Preti, located within the Chapel of Saint Peter ad Vincula at the Jesuits’ Church.

The initiative was inaugurated during a formal event addressed by Hon. Owen Bonnici, Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government, alongside AX Group’s Director of Construction and Development, Denise Xuereb. Additional addresses were delivered by David Camilleri and Rev. Dr Nicholas Doublet from The Jesuits' Church Foundation, highlighting the importance of preserving these works depicting the life and martyrdom of Saint Peter.

The conservation project has been entrusted to the St John's Co-Cathedral Foundation and will be carried out in line with established principles to preserve the paintings’ integrity while restoring their visual clarity.

This sponsorship builds on AX Group’s long-term commitment to protecting Malta’s cultural and artistic heritage.
