🚀✨ Today we launch our new campaign: “Science for everyone, by everyone”, in collaboration with MGRM
Our very first scientist to feature in the campaign, is Katarína Grešová 👩🔬💻, a computational biologist and AI researcher whose journey reminds us that science belongs to everyone 💡✨
Originally from a village in Slovakia, Katarína grew up dreaming of becoming a scientist, even though nobody in her close family had attended university before. 🎓🌱
Today, her work combines molecular biology 🧬, computer science, and artificial intelligence 🤖 to better understand how genes are regulated in our cells, helping researchers move closer to improved diagnostics and treatments.
Her journey has taken her across Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Germany, the United States, and Malta. Here, she collaborated with the University of Malta through the BioGeMT project and will return in September to teach again at the Bioinformatics Summer School and visit the Science in the City Festival.
Beyond the lab 🧪, Katarína has found community through LGBTQIA+ groups 🌈, volunteering 🤝, hiking 🥾, running 🏃♀️, and q***r bouldering communities 🧗 across different countries, showing that science is not only about discovery, but also about connection, identity, and belonging 💜
Katarína’s story reminds us that visibility matters, both in science and in society. By being unapologetically herself 🌈 and pursuing a path she once thought impossible, she is helping create a future where more people feel represented, included, and inspired in STEAM 🔬🎨🚀
Because science is stronger when everyone can see themselves in it 💙🌍

The theme of our next book club is Family- whether its about family dynamics, chosen family, q***r family, family relationships, or even a research on family, the options are as open as the definition of family!

June being Pride month, and men's mental health awareness month, puts GBT men right at the intersection of celebration and struggle.
While we celebrate our history, our love, and our community, we also have to hold space for the unique mental health hurdles we face. From navigating inter-community exclusion to dealing with body standards, rejection, and hyper-masculinity, carrying both identities can be heavy.
