Our Chairperson Leo Brincat and CEO Alison Micallef were pleased to welcome 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐭, Head of the European Commission Representation in Malta, and 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚, Economic Counsellor at the Representation, for a constructive exchange on MDB's role in supporting Malta's economic development.

Discussions centred on MDB's potential as an implementing partner under InvestEU, and how the Bank's schemes are addressing key gaps in the local economy.

The meeting also touched on MDB's 2025 Annual Report, reflecting priorities closely aligned with those of the European Commission, as well as the role of MDB's Business Development team in supporting the Commission's fact-finding missions in Malta.

Uptake across MDB's schemes was also reviewed, together with the challenges and opportunities shaping their continued rollout - all in the context of MDB's core mission: 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡.

We look forward to building on this engagement with the European Commission as we continue working toward a more resilient and inclusive Maltese economy.

When people think about football, they usually think about the game on the pitch. But there is a side to the game that is just as important: 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐲.

We recently met with the Malta Football Association - 1900's lead physiotherapist, 𝐉𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢, who explained how the new 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 in Ta' Qali has improved the way players receive treatment, rehabilitation and ongoing support.

Malta Development Bank is proud to have supported the financing of this important investment, with the National Development and Social Fund (NDSF). Together, we invested in modern sports infrastructure that gives our athletes the facilities they need to train, recover and perform at their best.

We recently held our 𝟏𝟎𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠. We want to give a special recognition to 𝐃𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐢, who, together with other colleagues, has been with us since the very beginning.

As Personal Assistant to the Chairperson and CEO, Doriette has worked tirelessly to make every Board meeting possible. Her dedication and commitment have been instrumental throughout our journey, and this milestone is as much hers as it is ours.

𝐈𝐦𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐣𝐚 is the feast of St Peter and St Paul.

Held after the harvest, it became a celebration of Malta's rural life and farming traditions. The Knights of St John added ceremonial pageantry and public festivities, while the British later formalised the agricultural exhibition at Buskett.

Today, it remains a colourful celebration of Malta's agricultural heritage, with traditional music, livestock exhibitions and the famous fenkata.
