📌 A meaningful quantum-security update for 2026 planning 📌

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) (the U.S. standards body behind the SP 800 cybersecurity guidance used in many audits and security programs) is updating SP 800-56A and revising SP 800-56C to better support hybrid key establishment 🛡️

In simple terms: SP 800-56A is the “how two systems agree a secret” rulebook, and SP 800-56C is the “how that secret becomes real encryption keys” rulebook. The revision path allows a hybrid model where you combine a classical shared secret with a PQC/KEM shared secret before key derivation 🔐⚙️

Why this matters: Organisations can harden key establishment now, without a full rip-and-replace, while staying aligned with real-world protocols, interoperability, and compliance constraints ✅
