Ten years after the unanimous adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2286 on the protection of health care in armed conflict, the reality is stark: attacks on medical facilities, transport, and personnel continue, and in many places have intensified.

Resolution 2286 does not mark an achievement, but a failure to uphold commitments meant to protect patients and those who care for them. As violence against healthcare persists, communities are left without lifesaving services and the very rules meant to limit the brutality of war are eroding.

The heads of the Médecins Sans Frontières / MSF, International Committee of the Red Cross and World Health Organization (WHO) issue an urgent call for action to protect medical care and defend our shared humanity.
