Protecting child and young workers in Myanmar’s factories, a step toward safer and fairer workplaces.

On July 24–25, the MADE in Myanmar Project organized its 7th training session on “Child Labour Prevention and Young Worker Management” in Yangon, with technical support from ProEthics Solutions. A total of 35 participants from factories joined the two-day training, which focused on responsible hiring and legal management of workers under 18, risk assessments, and effective remediation practices.

Since early 2024, MADE has trained over 240 participants from more than 100 factories, with 83.5% of them being women. In addition to training, from 2023 to 2025, MADE has collaborated with ProEthics Solutions, The Centre for Child Rights, and Future Light Center to carry out remediation plans for 51 child labour cases in 51 factories.

Supported by the European Union, the MADE in Myanmar Project is working with 165 factories employing around 205,000 workers. Its Alliance includes 31 international retailers and brands committed to responsible sourcing in Myanmar. Through a mix of prevention and remediation efforts, MADE plays a vital role in strengthening workplace safety and long-term compliance across the manufacturing sector.
