Twante City : Overview
Twante is well known associated with the Twante Canal which was named after Twante. The 35 km-long canal is a heavily used for the short-cut between the city of Yangon and the Ayeyarwaddy Division until the 1990s when roads became usable year round. Twante Canal was constructed in 1881 during the British time and opened in May 1883.It serves as the quickest route from Yangon to the Delta Region. Twante is a traditional pottery center since early times. Do you know? George Orwell famous English Writer (1903–1950) was a police officer in Twante, during the British rule in Myanmar.
