🐊 Crocodile tears
➡️ Meaning:
Fake tears or false sadness — when someone pretends to be sad but doesn’t really feel it.
📖 Origin:
People used to believe (a long time ago) that crocodiles cry while eating their prey, as if they feel sorry — but actually, they don’t. Their tears come from the way their jaw moves, not from emotion.
So, the phrase means pretending to feel sorry or sad when you really don’t.
💬 Examples:
She cried crocodile tears after breaking his toy, but she didn’t really care.
Don’t believe his crocodile tears — he’s not truly sorry!
👉 In short:
“Crocodile tears” = Fake sadness or insincere emotion.
Let’s see if you truly understand the differences between “believe in,” “believe,” and “trust.”
