ရန်ကုန်မြို့မှာ စည်ပင်ဥပဒေမှာပါတဲ့အတိုင်း ၁၉၉၁ ခုနှစ်ကစပြီး ခွေးလေခွေးလွင့်ရှင်းလင်းရေးအဖြစ်အဆိပ်ကျွေးရှင်းလင်းခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ၂၀၁၅ ခုနှစ်က သတင်းမှတ်တမ်းတွေအရ တစ်လကို ခွေးအကောင်ရေ ၂၅၀၀ ကျော် သုတ်သင်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။

ဒီနည်းလမ်းဟာ လေလွင့်ခွေးတွေနည်းသွားဖို့ တကယ်အလုပ်ဖြစ်တဲ့ နည်းလမ်းအမှန်သာဆိုရင် ဘာကြောင့် နှစ်ပေါင်း ၃၀ကျော်တဲ့ထိ ရန်ကုန်မှာ လေလွင့်ခွေးတွေ များနေဆဲဖြစ်နေရတာပါလဲ။

လမ်းဘေးက လေလွင့်ခွေးပေါင်းများစွာဟာ အလွန်ရက်စက်တဲ့နည်းနဲ့ သုတ်သင်ခံခဲ့ရပြီး ယနေ့ထိလည်းသုတ်သင်ခံနေရဆဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ လေလင့်ခွေးများပြားလာခြင်းကိုထိန်းချုပ်နိုင်ဖို့အတွက် သားထိန်းခြင်းကသာ နည်းလမ်းအမှန်ဖြစ်ပြီး ကျန်းမာတဲ့မြို့ပြဝန်းကျင် တစ်ခုဖြစ်လာစေမှာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

In Yangon, as stated in the Municipal Law, since 1991, over 2,500 stray dogs have been culled each month as part of the “dog elimination” program.

If this method truly worked and was the right solution to reduce the number of stray dogs in Yangon, why is it that even after more than 30 years, Yangon is still overrun with stray dogs?

Countless street dogs have been killed using extremely cruel methods, and to this day, such culling continues.

The only humane and non-cruel way to control the growing stray dog population is sterilization, which will also help create a healthier urban community.
