ဒီနေ့ knowledge sharing အနေနဲ့ပြောပြပေးသွားမှာကတော့ တစ်ယောက်နဲ့တစ်ယောက် communicate လုပ်တဲ့အခါမှာ ပေါ့ပေါ့ပါးပါး၊ရင်းရင်းနှီးနှီးပြောလို့ရမယ့် polite and fancy phrase လေးတွေပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ် 🗣✨

အဓိပ္ပာယ်နဲ့တကွ နားလည်လွယ်မယ့် example sentence လေးတွေနဲ့လည်းရှင်းပြပေးသွားမှာဖြစ်လို့ post လေးကိုအဆုံးထိဖတ်ပေးကြပါဦးဗျ

1️⃣ It’s nice to bump into you

ဒီ phrase လေးကိုတော့ မတွေ့တာကြာတဲ့
ကိုယ့်အသိတစ်ယောက်ယောက်နဲ့ မထင်မှတ်ဘဲ၊မချိန်းထားဘဲ ဆုံမိကြတဲ့အခါမျိုးမှာသုံးလို့ရပါတယ်။

Eg. It’s so nice to bump into you! I haven’t seen you for so long.

2️⃣ Speak of the devil

ဗမာလိုဆိုရင်တော့“အသက်ရှည်ဦးမယ်…ပြောရင်းဆိုရင်းပေါ်လာပြီ”ဆိုတဲ့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်ပါ။
ကိုယ်ကအခုပဲ သူ့အကြောင်းပြောတုန်း အဲ့ဒီတစ်ယောက်က အကြောင်းမကြားထားဘဲ တကယ်ရောက်လာတဲ့အခါမျိုးမှာ ‘Speak of the devil’ လို့ပြောပါတယ်။

Eg. Two persons talking about Peter and Peter appears very soon :
“Well, speak of the devil! Here comes Peter! We’re just talking ‘bout you dude”

3️⃣ What have I missed? Fill me in.

ဒီ phrase လေးကိုတော့ situation ၂မျိုးမှာအသုံးပြုနိုင်ပါတယ်။
သူငယ်ချင်းတစ်ယောက်နဲ့မတွေ့တာအရမ်းကြာပြီးမှပြန်တွေ့တဲ့အခါ မတွေ့ဖြစ်တဲ့ကြားထဲဖြစ်သမျှ၊ပျက်သမျှပြောပြပါဦးလို့ပြောချင်တဲ့အခါမျိုးမှာ (Or) စကားဝိုင်းတစ်ခုကို ကိုယ်က နောက်ကျမှရောက်သွားပြီး ကိုယ်မရောက်ခင်ဘာတွေပြောပြီးကြပြီလဲမေးတဲ့နေရာမှာသုံးလို့ရပါတယ်။

(ဒီနေရာမှာ Fill me in ရဲ့ meaning က “Fill me with missing information” လို့အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရပါတယ်။)

4️⃣ I’m a bit pressed for time

အချိန်သိပ်မရဘူးလို့ပြောချင်တဲ့အခါမှာသုံးပါတယ်။ တစ်ဖက်လူက စကားကောင်းနေတဲ့အချိန်၊ ကိုယ့်မှာလည်းအချိန်သိပ်မရလို့သွားဦးမယ်လို့ပြောချင်ရင် “I don’t have any time. I need to go” ဆိုတာမျိုးထက် ပိုယဉ်ကျေးပြီးဖော်ရွေတဲ့ phrase လေးပါ။

Eg. “Sorry, I’m a bit pressed for time. I need to make a move.”

5️⃣ I’d love to carry this on …

အခုမှ First date/first met တွေ့ဖူး၊စကားပြောဖူးတာပေမယ့် စကားပြောရတာအဆင်ပြေလို့ဒီလူနဲ့ထပ်တွေ့ချင်သေးတယ်၊ထပ်ဆက်သွယ်ချင်သေးတယ်ဆိုရင် ဒီ phrase လေးသုံးပြီးစကားစလို့ရပါတယ်။

Eg. “I’d love to carry this on a later date. Shall I have your number or email address?”

ဒီနေ့ညမှာ ဖော်ပြပေးသွားမှာကတော့ '-rupt' နဲ့ ဆုံးတဲ့ words (6)လုံးပဲ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

ဒီ words တွေက အသုံးများတဲ့အပြင် meaning တွေကလည်း more or less similar ဖြစ်တာမလို့ ခွဲခြားသိထားပြီး ပိုင်ပိုင်နိုင်နိုင်သုံးတတ်မယ်ဆိုရင် ကိုယ့်ရဲ့ Language skill ကို အများကြီးတိုးတက်စေနိုင်မှာပဲ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

ဒီညမှာ sharing လုပ်ပေးချင်တဲ့ topic လေးကတော့ confusing adverbs ပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

Confusing Adverbs ဆိုတာကတော့ spelling ဆင်တူသလိုရှိတဲ့အတွက် English learner တွေမှားပြီးသုံးတတ်တဲ့ adverb အတွဲလေးတွေပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

အခုပြောပြပေးသွားမဲ့ confusing adverbs အတွဲလေးတွေကတော့

1️⃣ Hard/Hardly

Hard ဆိုတာကတော့ "ခက်ခက်ခဲခဲ/ကြိုးကြိုးစားစား" လို့ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပြီး Hardly ကတော့ ‘almost not’ လို့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရပါတယ်။ မြန်မာလိုဆိုရင် ‘လုပ်ခဲတယ်’၊ ‘ဖြစ်ခဲတယ်’ စသဖြင့် ‘_ခဲတယ်’လို့ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပြီး ‘seldom’ နဲ့အဓိပ္ပာယ်ဆင်တူပါတယ်။

Example :
"My friend works hard" ဆိုတဲ့ sentence ဟာ "ကျွန်တော့်သူငယ်ချင်းသည် အလုပ်ကိုကြိုးကြိုးစားစားလုပ်သည်" လို့အဓိပ္ပါယ်ရပြီး
"My friend hardly works" ဆိုတဲ့ sentence မှာတော့ "ကျွန်တော့်သူငယ်ချင်း အလုပ်လုပ်ခဲသည်" (မလုပ်ပဲနေတာကများသည်) လို့ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

⚠️ Hard နဲ့ Hardly ဟာဆိုရင် opposite meaning ဖြစ်တဲ့အတွက် မှားယွင်းသုံးမိရင် sentence ရဲ့ meaning က ဆန့်ကျင်ဘက်ပြောင်းလဲသွားမှာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

2️⃣ Late/Lately

Late ဆိုတာကတော့ "နောက်ကျသော" လို့ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပြီး Lately က‌တော့ "မကြာသေးမီ/ခုတစ်လော" လို့ ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

Example :
"My sister arrived home late last night" ဆိုတဲ့ sentence ဟာ "ကျွန်တော့်ညီမ မနေ့ညက အိမ်ပြန်နောက်ကျသည်" လို့ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပြီး
"It hasn't rain lately" ဟာဆိုရင်တော့ "ခုရက်ပိုင်းမိုးမရွာဘူး" လို့ ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

⚠️ Late နဲ့ Lately ဟာ similar spelling ဖြစ်ပေမယ့် အဓိပ္ပါယ်ဟာလုံးဝဆက်စပ်မှုမရှိတဲ့အတွက် မှားယွင်းသုံးမိရင်တော့ sentence ဟာ ဘာအဓိပ္ပါယ်မှရှိတော့မှာမဟုတ်ပါဘူး။

3️⃣ Near/Nearly

Near ဆိုတာကတော့ "(တစ်စုံတစ်ရာနဲ့) နီးနီးကပ်ကပ်" ကိုဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပေမယ့် Nearly ကတော့ "လုနီးပါး" လို့ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပြီး "almost" နဲ့ ဆင်တူပါတယ်။

Example :
"I live near a river" ဆိုတဲ့ sentence ဟာ "ကျွန်တော်မြစ်တစ်ခုနားမှာနေသည်" လို့ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပြီး
"It is nearly 9 p.m" ဆိုတဲ့ sentence ကတော့ "ည ၉နာရီ ထိုးတော့မယ် (ထိုးလုနီးပါး)" လို့ ဆိုလိုတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

⚠️ Near နဲ့ Nearly ဟာဆိုရင်လည်းပဲ spelling ဆင်တူပေမယ့် အဓိပ္ပါယ်တွေကတော့လုံးဝဆက်စပ်မှုမရှိပါဘူး။ ဒါကြောင့် မှားယွင်းမသုံးမိဖို့လိုပါတယ်။

ကဲ အခုဖော်ပြပေးသွားတာကတော့ common အဖြစ်ဆုံး confusing adverbs လေးတွေပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
နောက်ထပ် confusing adverbs လေးတွေလည်းရှိသေးတာမို့လေ့လာကြဦးနော်။
