The Red-striped Oil Beetle, (Berberomeloe majalis)
It is a type of omnivorous beetle that belongs to the family of fire beetles.
It is found in sunny and dry places in the Mediterranean, especially in North Africa, from Morocco to Tunisia, and on the Iberian island in both Spain and Portugal. And prefer open grasslands in forests covered with light trees. It can also be found in the heights of the Sierra Nevada at an altitude of 3.000 meters.
They are distinguished by their large size, which sometimes reaches more than 7 cm, which makes them one of the largest beetles in North Africa and Europe. They are easy to recognize, especially females, by their elongated belly, fusiform black and orange-red laces, and their lack of red spots on either side of their head.
