Amine Houari is an architect with a profound passion for photography, was born in 2000 in Fez, Morocco. His creative inspiration is deeply rooted in the diverse culture and landscapes of Morocco. His work explores the theme of territoriality, focusing on the identity of places and individuals, as well as the intricate relationships humans establish with their environment and community.
In 2019, Amine’s photography was showcased at the inaugural exhibition of the National Museum of Photo- graphy in Rabat, Morocco, and at the 2nd edition of the Africa Photo Festival in New York. He was awarded the contempARTE prize in 2020 by the University of Huelva, Spain, for his «En el Mar» photo series. That same year, he co-founded the Noorseen collective to promote young Moroccan photographers on the international stage. His series «Territories» not only won the «Face aÌ la Mer» grand prize in Tangier in 2021 but was also exhibited at the Cairo PhotoFestival in 2022.
Amine’s work has been exhibited extensively, both locally and internationally. His photographs have been displayed in Tangier, Marrakech, Essaouira, Casablanca, Rabat within Morocco, and internationally in cities like Turin, Paris, and Cairo. Currently based in Tangier, Amine is engaged in a project documenting the city’s urban expansion. This work focuses on the impact of urban growth on the landscape and residents of Tangier, showcasing his enduring dedication to capturing the essence of Moroccan culture and its evolving environments.
