ALCSE Master's Program
25/06/2023
On Saturday, June 24th, the Applied Language and Culture Studies in Education (ALCSE) master's program at ESEF School organized a thought-provoking study day under the theme of "(Re)Locating English Language and Culture Studies in the Global South: Foundations, Critiques, and Prospects." The event aimed to explore and redefine the position of English language and culture studies within the context of the Global South. The study day brought together scholars, researchers, and students from diverse backgrounds who engaged in stimulating discussions and presented their research on topics such as decolonizing English language education, linguistic imperialism, and the role of English in multilingual societies. The event provided a platform to critically examine the dominant paradigms in English language and culture studies, question their implications, and explore alternative perspectives.
