Tit-for-tat for Kalayaan LGU officials who signed the persona-non-grata resolution. Yes that is reciprocity.

When DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla broached the possibility of his gunning for the Presidency, he wasn't kidding.

It is now obvious that Remulla is mounting an image build-up campaign with his high-profile engagements, including drug busts at the Bureau of Customs, which is not even under his department.

Apparently, Remulla is counting on the impeachment of Vice President Inday Sara Duterte as a major vehicle to remove a solid roadblock to his ambition.

His brother, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla, is not hiding his own efforts to paralyze potential opposition to the impeachment in the Senate, declaring that very soon any threat to Senate President Tito Sotto III as head of the Upper Chamber will be defanged.

Hence, the proposition that the anti Sara Duterte factions will come together and pick a single candidate is now sliding toward the cliff.

Go, go, go, Jonvic! It is your time to shine! 😆

Phase by phase na pangungurakot!

The unfinished two-level multi-purpose hall that Congresswoman Ann Matibag started to build, but remains unfinished after three years, in Barangay Bagong Silang, San Pedro City, Laguna stands out as a model for a corruption-ridden infrastructure program of the Marcos, Jr. administration.

A few days ago, we published a picture of the gaping structure with the caption that public funds amounting to P19,789,566.85 were wasted in this project.

We discovered an inaccuracy. Atty. Melvin Alvarez Matibag was correct when he said this project was being implemented by phases. There was a Phase TWO implemented last year with a contract price of P4,858,920.00.

And we were horrified to find out that this "phase-by-phase" implementation of the covered court is the new modus operandi for the systematic looting of the national treasury.

We obtained a photograph of "Phase One" upon its 100% completion in October 2024: only the reinforced concrete posts were protruding and reaching out into the sky. That cost the government P19.8 million!

The budget for Phase One came from the pork barrel of the TGP Party List represented by Rep. B**g Teves.

Then, Congresswoman Matibag earmarked P4,858,920 from her allocable pork barrel in 2025 purportedly for the "completion" of the structure.

But the contractor poured reinforced concrete slab as the second floor of the structure. Its workers packed up their gear afterwards, leaving residents puzzled why its construction wasn't pursued to its completion.

The DPWH Transparency Portal reported the contract as 100% completed. Just the second floor slab for P4,858,920!

We can only speculate that a Phase Three was in the works in the 2026 GAA, for yet another portion of the unfinished structure.

But bad luck struck this modus operandi of Congresswoman Matibag: the 2026 allocables were stripped. Her ATM was shut down.

The phase-by-phase "pangungurakot" inadvertently fell victim to the flood control scandal and the scrapping of the corruption-vehicle known as ALLOCABLE FUNDS.

Hence, the people of Barangay Bagong Silang are aghast at being stuck with a monstrosity of a concrete structure, still a far cry from the covered court promised by their legislator.

Rep. Matibag has been quiet about this and other scandals. She is unperturbed.

Her husband had taunted critics on Facebook last week that the exposés on her alleged corruption achieved nothing in terms of being investigated by the Marcos, Jr. government.

Rep. Matibag has been under heavy criticism after several flood control projects in her district were found to be either ghost or substandard projects.

According to a source, she is being shielded from investigation by Alan L. Yap, chief of staff of DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon. Yap and Atty. Matibag are known to be close friends.
