Welcome to Riga, city of inspiration by the Baltic sea

The first, indelible impression that most visitors get of the Latvian capital is its majestic skyline, as viewed from the left bank of the Daugava River. Rain in Riga? Honestly, not a bad thing.☂️
This evening and the next few days might be rainy, windy and a little dramatic in Riga. But that doesn’t mean the city should wait for sunnier weather.

In fact, rain is a great excuse to enjoy Riga indoors.

📍Start with museums and galleries — like the Latvijas Nacionālais mākslas muzejs, Mākslas muzejs RĪGAS BIRŽA, Zuzeum Skulptūru mežs Museum Storage Facility and Forest of Sculptures

📍Hide from the rain in a cosy café — Lane Café rūpnīca Veldze or are all good options when the weather calls for something warm.

📍For a slower day, choose a little tranquility with a spa, sauna or wellness stop — from ESPA Riga and Wellton Riverside SPA Hotel to Taka Spa or a classic Latvian sauna ritual.

📍Rainy days are also perfect for design and concept stores — RIIJA, M50 Northern Grip or Hobbywool.

🥕 From playful seals to curious porcupines — all summer long, Rīgas Zoodārzs/Riga Zoo offers daily animal feeding demonstrations for visitors to enjoy. It’s the perfect chance to see the animals at their most active, discover what’s on their menu, and plan a full, exciting day at the zoo.

🌿 About Rīga Zoo:
Start your day surrounded by treetops, birdsong, and over 3,000 animals from all corners of the world. Tucked away in the green heart of Mežaparks, Rīga Zoo is one of the most popular family attractions in the city — just a short ride from the centre.
After meeting giraffes, seals, and more, slow things down with a peaceful walk to nearby Lake Ķīšezers. Add a picnic, fresh air, and a bit of curiosity — and you’ve got a full Riga day plan, effortlessly sorted.

🚯 A friendly reminder: only zookeepers are allowed to feed the animals. Even a seemingly harmless treat can affect their health, so let’s enjoy, observe, and capture the moment — and leave the feeding to the professionals.
