What does it mean to be a frontend engineer in the age of AI? 🤖💻

At the latest DevClub.lv meetup, our colleague Edvins Antonovs challenged the way we think about frontend engineering in the AI era with his speech called, "The typing got cheap, the thinking got expensive”.
His main idea is that typing was never the whole job; it just took all of the time, as not long ago, producing code was the expensive part—remembering syntax, writing boilerplate, and spending hours getting to the interesting bits. Today, AI tools can generate working code in seconds.
So now, what’s really important is deciding what's right. Applying judgment. Having taste. Understanding what the person on the other side of the screen actually needs.

In this role, you’ll work closely with engineers to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines, analyze code, perform threat modeling, and strengthen a large ecosystem of services, including AI-driven solutions built from scratch.

💡 You’ll have a real impact, take on significant ownership, and influence how security is implemented across the organization.

🛠️ We’re looking for someone who:
• Can read and understand code (PHP, Node.js, or Golang)
• Has experience in software development or application security
• Knows the OWASP Top 10 and secure coding practices
• Is familiar with CI/CD and security tools (GitLab, Jenkins, Semgrep, SonarQube, Trivy, etc.)
• Works well with engineers and communicates clearly
