Normal Babyy

A look back at Cheap Tea scented music performance we did at on May 9, 2026. Thanks to everybody who came out of curiosity, friendship, the need for a nostalgia fix, or by accident. It was a good time and we’ll do it again.

Today, we publish the live recording of our most recent performance 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 that took place on October 17, during the RIXC Art Science festival. It's a musical piece composed for – and by – the generative sound object KLIMATON ARCTIC≈2020.

It will soon be available on select streaming platforms also, but today you can listen to it on Bandcamp or SoundCloud.

Attend a performance by German artists Adnan Softić and Nina Softić , combining electronic music with Arctic soundscapes featuring Latvian sound artists Normal Babyy (Elza Auguste Zīverte and Kristofers Knesis) and German artist Thies Mynther.

At the performance's center is the music instrument KLIMATON ARCTIC – a large-scale, sonified portrait of a disappearing landscape, developed in collaboration with scientists from the MOSAiC Expedition (Alfred Wegener Institute), acting as a resonance body of the Arctic.

The performance takes place as part of the Resonances of Nature project in collaboration with Goethe-Institut Riga and Institut français de Lettonie / Francijas institūts Latvijā

Normal Babyy is a Riga-based interdisciplinary art duo whose work spans performance, sound, video, and site-specific interventions. They explore how systems—social, material, or conceptual—shape perception, behavior, and agency.
