The group "Supper" was founded in 1979 in Riga, Latvia, its Latvian name is "Vakariņas". The founders of the group are two classmates Aivars Vīksna and Jānis Egle from the High School of Professional Technology. Guest musicians who liked the idea were invited to record and perform their original compositions at concerts. Concerts were rare, but well attended, it should be noted that at that time t
here was censorship in Latvia. In 1989, the group participated in the festival DURVIS 89, the jury recognized that the group has a clean sound and the band's bassist was awarded the title - the best bassist of the festival. Despite many underground demo albums, which were recorded on tape, the group only managed to release their first official instrumental music album "A Natural Blend of Music" in 1999. The group’s second album "Mooncat Skips Town" was released in August 2022, this album was self-released by the founders of the band and is available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, iTunes. Einars Kizjalo plays the accordion at the end of the track "Mooncat Skips Town". The bassist swaps out the bass for the tuba, while playing the tambourine with his left hand on “Mooncat Skips Town”. Die Band “Supper” wurde 1979 in Riga, Lettland gegründet, und deren lettischer Name ist “Vakariņas”, was also “die Abendmahlzeit” bedeutet. Die Gründungsmitglieder sind Aivars Vīksna un Jānis Egle, die Kommilitonen an der Berufsfachschule waren. Um die eigenen Kompositionen aufzunehmen und live vorzutragen, wurden Sidemen einbezogen, die die Ideen der Band mochten. Konzerte gab es rar, an interessiertes Publikum mangelte es aber nicht. Es sei bemerkt, dass es damals in Lettland die Zensur gab.
1989 nahm die Band am Festival “DURVIS’89” teil; die Jury hat den sauberen Sound von “Supper”hervorgehoben, und Aivars Vīksna wurde als der beste Bassist gefeiert. Obwohl die Band hat viele Demo – Alben in Underground-Studios auf Tonbänder augenommen, erst 1999 gelang es den Musikern, ihr erstes offizielles Album der Instrumentalmusik “A Natural blend of music” herauszugeben. Das zweite Album “Mooncat skips Town” wurde im August 2022 von den Gründungsmitgliedern der Band herausgegeben; das Album ist in Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, iTunes zu erwerben. Beim Aufnehmen des Albums wurden die Synthesizer der 80er Jahre des 20 Jahrhunderts und andere Vintage – Instrumente benutzt. Besonderer Dank für das Coverdesign an die Künstlerin Karina Volbeta.
