Last week the Sportunity team ran a 4-day holiday camp for children from refugee families from Ukraine, Venezuela and Eritrea 💛

The programme combined discovery, learning and sport. Every day brought a new adventure, new experiences and new opportunities to connect, have fun and grow together.

We explored science through hands-on experiments at the Luxembourg Science Center, challenged ourselves at Steinfort Adventure rope park, enjoyed a fun-filled visit to Galaxy Game Center, and took part in a special meeting with Dali Zhu at Kaito restaurant.

Sport remained at the heart of the programme. Throughout the week, the children trained in football, volleyball and karate, developing not only their physical skills but also confidence, teamwork and perseverance.

We learned, played, challenged ourselves, made new friends and created memories that will stay with us long after the camp has ended.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this camp possible 💛

Last Saturday, Sportunity once again participated in the ING Night Marathon Luxembourg - a tradition that is becoming a yearly highlight for our community ✨

As every year, our volunteers joined the marathon to support runners and help create the warm and festive atmosphere that makes this event so special. Together, we managed our refreshment point, cheering on exhausted runners and sharing encouragement, smiles, and offering runners cola for a quick boost of glucose and energy for their final push to the finish.

This year, we also joined the race itself. Three adult participants from our community ran the 5 km race, while children proudly took part in the kids’ races, experiencing the joy, excitement, and sense of belonging that sport can bring.

What makes moments like this truly meaningful is not only the marathon itself, but the people behind it. Different backgrounds disappeared behind a shared experience of movement, support, and connection.

This is exactly what Sportunity stands for: building bridges between cultures through sport and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, ran, cheered, or simply shared this night with us. You brought this tradition to life once again 💙

We are happy to expand our regular sports programme for refugees with a new weekly activity - outdoor yoga sessions with Ioana. 🌿

Starting this Saturday, participants will gather every week at 9:00 AM for a gentle morning practice in the open air.

Yoga can play an important role for people who have experienced displacement, uncertainty and stress. Through movement, breathing and mindful attention, these sessions help participants reconnect with their bodies, release tension and create moments of calm and emotional balance.

Regular activities also help build routine, strengthen wellbeing and create supportive social connections within the community.
