Networking Tips. Part 2. After we prepared for the conference and determined networking targets and the contact points, it was time to act! Alex Zamiatin, Investment Director at Intema shared his tips on how to charm new acquaintances and leave a pleasant aftertaste. 😋
During the conversation with the new connection, express genuine interest in the work or presentation of the counterparty person. In my conversation, I try to be concise and open-ended to encourage further discussion. So it’s better to avoid the yes/no questions. 💬
🌎 When you’re connecting with a person with a different cultural background, please, be mindful of the cultural differences and steer clear of divisive subjects to maintain a positive and inclusive atmosphere during networking conversations. Avoid sensitive or controversial topics such as politics, religion, and personal matters.
If the conference you’re attending offers side events - don’t go, run! 🏃♂️ These gatherings, which may be organized by the conference hosts or other entities, provide a relaxed setting for continued networking. It’s an opportunity to form stronger connections, as people are generally more open and approachable outside the formal conference environment. 🤝
Think over the process of contact exchange. A classic business card is fine, also why not leverage technology by using QR codes or business card apps to exchange contact information effortlessly?
🖋 The after-conference follow-up is a must. Let your new acquaintance think of you again by sharing the key takeaways, expressing gratitude for any insights gained, and suggesting potential collaboration or a follow-up meeting.
That’s it! Of course, when networking at conferences - business first. But allow yourself to relax and let the conversation flow. A good sense of humor, open-mindedness, and common interests are the ingredients of the charming potion. 🔮

🏈 While the Internet’s buzzing about the Kansas City Chiefs winning at the Super Bowl, Taylor Swift and the Half-time show, starring Usher and Alicia Keys, we’re here to discuss AI and what it has to do with the National Football League. 🤖
When the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers, everybody who betted on the Chiefs at sweepstakes, became winners as well. Sweepstakes are a popular tradition at big sports events. For the loyal fans there’s no alternative but to bet on their favorite team and believe in their victory, but could the win actually be predicted? 🔮
AI Business team asked popular chatbots about who will win the NFL. While ChatGPT and Claude refused to tell what their binary brains analyzed, Gemini Advanced by Google eagerly shared its opinion with the disclaimer that “things may change rapidly”. By overviewing the strengths and weaknesses of the players from both teams, the potential collisions and injuries, Gemini gave its unconfident but definite conclusion: “The Chiefs have the slight edge”.
Ryan Morrison, the AI Editor at Tom's Guide also asked ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini about their observations, and luckily, all the three agreed to cooperate and came to the same conclusion: The Chiefs will take the trophy 🏆, and all three added it’ll be a close game (the final score was 25 - 22). Besides the winner, Ryan managed to make the protesting chatbots share the suggested scores, passes and combinations, playoff experience, injuries and coaching records.
🖼 Of course, in sports, there’s much place for unexpected strategic maneuvers, changes of luck, and vagaries of the weather, which can change the course of the game within seconds, but AI analytics still can give a pretty accurate picture with the strengths and weaknesses of all the teams.
It’s just important to have one thing in mind: whether to make a bet on your favorite team or not - that remains the personal responsibility of each human.

🚀 The event season is accelerating after the lazy January, so it’s time to recall the basics of productive networking. Igor Iarunov, Investment Director VC Intema and our valuable event networker tells how preparation and planning help him to make strategic connections.
☝ Preparation
The best improvisation is the prepared one, which is absolutely relatable to networking. All those networking beasts, who seem capable of making connections with any person alive, always remember business goals and make proper homework before the event.r
🔎 First of all, it’s necessary to look at the list of attendees and highlight those with whom it makes sense to meet. Often, organizers simplify this task by offering a special application or a certain algorithm to make appointments in advance with the participants you like.
Speaking of social networks, as a rule, it makes no sense to add them to your connections or friends before meeting them. However, immediately after, it’s a good idea to remind them of yourself. 👋
☝ Advice
To maximize networking opportunities at conferences, consider investing in premium tickets such as 'investor' passes. These often grant access to exclusive areas with a more intimate and conducive environment for meaningful interactions. This strategy can significantly enhance your networking experience by facilitating connections with key stakeholders and industry leaders who are more likely to be present in these specialized zones. 🤝
☝ First connect
A truly valuable connection is the one, which gives value for both people. Think what the person you’d like to connect with is looking for and what you can offer. Startups need money (either investments or assistance in sales), funds need good targets and profitability, and corporations need KPIs. 💰
State your value when you approach the person at the event. Typically, I make it in 1-2 sentences. Now there are two scenarios: it will either hit the target or it won't. Don’t get upset, if the connection doesn’t give the expected results. It’s a long term investment and may pay off months or even years after. 😎

🐇 The Rabbit R1
Last week there was launched an AI-powered device The Rabbit R1, which reminds an AI-powered pager (hello 90-s) looking like a tamagotchi. The device is designed to become your smart assistant to help with daily tasks, which sounds great, but then you think of a smartphone you already have. Still it’s a sign that AI-natural hardware as a whole direction in tech starts gaining momentum.
🕹 Microsoft introduces a new Copilot key to Windows 11 PCs
As of Microsoft, “the introduction of the Copilot key marks the first significant change to the Windows PC keyboard in nearly three decades”. People working in Tech rarely look back. Not [only] because we’re cool guys who never look at explosions. Technologies always imply moving forward, innovating, being harder, better, faster, stronger. So Thanks to the upcoming New Year, we made a stop to catch the breath and look at what has been done in 2023.
2023 was the year saved by AI. Literally. Why saved, you would ask. Let’s recall the tech industry in autumn 2022. Mass layoffs numbering hundreds of thousands people left jobless; the bubble, formed by infinite venture money during the Pandemics, blowed. We were at the edge of Global Economic Recession, which seemed inevitable. All of a sudden, in the end of November a young company Open AI introduces ChatGPT, and turns the global course 180 degrees.
2023 started the AI Era. And as an AI accelerdator, VC fund and as people we can’t be more excited about that fact, for we met many innovative and crazy startupers, who have courage to think big and push the boundaries of human opportunities. In 2024 Gen AI will get even more mature and get deeper integrated across the industries.
But let’s get back to 2023. For Intema it was the year of exploration. We explored new markets, new formats, new AI projects and even launched our own one too. Let’s have a closer look.
First, we decided to try a new pilot-oriented acceleration format, instead of venture-oriented. Together with top-level experts, Intema prepared startups and teams for integration in the corporate ecosystems and help them beecome more self-sufficient, for it wasn’t safe relying on venture funding any more. Now we can say it’s been one of the best ideas so far.
The first acceleration program this year was focused on Metaverse projects. Yes, we searched for Metaverse solutions in the midst of AI hype, and it absolutely paid off. It was very refreshing to work with technologies at the intersection of AI and Metaverse, and integrate these solutions in real life.
Another successful acceleration program was focused on Generative AI projects like copilots, chatbots, content generators, and their adaptation to particular business needs. The solutions, which participated in the program, touched a large scope of spheres: Development, ML-Ops, Customer Service, Support, HR, Compliance and more. And of course, this wouldn’t be possible without the knowledge and valuable practical tips from world's top professionals, including experts from Microsoft, Apple Developer Academy, PwC, AWS, and more.
In 2023 we tried on the startuper’s shoes and launched a new project on Product Hunt - The Platform, a digital space which connects startups with investors and corporations. We not only became the 3d Product of the Day, but attracted the attention of global startup community and European Media. Just check it out:

Travels and conferences. In 2023 Intema team were unstoppable! Chine, Hong Kong, Brazil, Oman, UAE, Turkey - it’s not a finite list of our 2023 destinations. Intema experts participated in the world’s top conferences like Emerge, Future Tech Event, Hong Kong Fintech Summit, Gitex Global, South Summit both as guests and speakers.
There’s one more even, worth special mentioning - the Machines Can See conference in Dubai, which Intema is proud to have been a partner of. Next year we are ready to gather again in the Museum of the Future for precious knowledge exchange, powerful networking and big fun.
Well, these were some of the major milestones for Intema in 2023. Before we turn back to the future we want to say a huge THANK YOU to the Intema team. Nothing of the abovementioned was possible without a daily work of big specialists and innovators, always doing their best to become harder, better, faster and stronger.
Thanks, 2023. Next!
