Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are becoming an essential tool for transparent communication of product environmental performance across Europe. Based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), an EPD provides verified data on a product’s environmental impact throughout its life cycle. ✅
As environmental transparency becomes increasingly important, more manufacturers are taking proactive steps.
👏 We’re pleased to share a completed project – an EPD prepared for HUVUD an innovative manufacturer of prefabricated building elements. The declaration was developed for HUVUD prefabricated wood-concrete walls, supporting the company’s commitment to transparent, fact-based sustainability communication.
As Jovita Babinskė, Sales Manager at Huvud Prefab, UAB, highlights:
“EPD was our choice because we want to speak about the environmental impact of our products transparently and with facts – not promises. This certificate is important for us both in strengthening client trust and in working on projects where reliable LCA data is essential.”
👉 If your company is preparing for increasing environmental requirements or looking to strengthen its competitive position in international markets, let’s talk.

The new Construction Products Regulation (CPR) entered into force on 7 January 2025, bringing major changes to how construction products will be documented and placed on the EU market. However, there is one important clarification:
🟡 The obligation to provide a Digital Product Passport (DPP) will only apply once harmonised standards under the new CPR are published.
Today, no such standards exist yet – which means manufacturers are currently in the preparation phase. The first harmonised standard is expected for cement (priority product family), planned for 2027. For most other product families, standards are expected later – 2029–2030.
Priority product groups (those likely to be affected first):
- Cement and hydraulic binders
- Precast concrete & masonry products
- Structural metallic products (steel, aluminium)
If you manufacture products in any of these categories, you will be among the first required to implement DPP once harmonised standards become available.
✔ What companies should do now:
- Follow progress on harmonised standards for your product family
- Prepare internal technical documentation and digital data structures
- Review your DoP/DoPC processes
- Plan for future digitalisation and system integration
Although DPP is not mandatory yet, early preparation will significantly reduce future compliance effort. If you need support understanding how CPR and DPP will impact your products, we are happy to help.
