There Will Be No Room For Dormant Concession; NBC Boss Warns

MONROVIA- The National Bureau of Concession Director General Hanson S. Kiazolu has openly criticized dormant concessions in Liberia vowing to go after them.

Speaking Friday November 28, 2025 during programs marking his formal induction, the NBC new boss disclosed that key among several things to be done by his leadership will be to strongly address dormant concessions.

The NBC boss who is a financial expert and former Representative of Montserrado County District 17 said too many agreements have remained inactive for years, with no activities, no jobs, and no reverse noting that it is unacceptable to have concessions that make no impact on the Liberian economy.

He noted that dormancy is undermining the Liberian economy and depriving the citizens of opportunities noting that his first act as Director General will be to contact dormant concessionaires directly to understand why they have failed to act, and to ensure that all back taxes, surface rentals, and other obligations are brought current.

Kiazolu declared that Concessions that remain dormant without justification will be subject to review and, where necessary, termination
