During a two-day visit to Zwedru the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG), Ms. Ellen Margrethe Løj urged Paramount Chiefs and other local elders in the border towns of Grand Gedeh County to assist UNMIL in reporting any case that might pose a threat to the relevant security agencies.

Lofa County, Liberia - The Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General for Rule of Law, Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu, says the rule of law sector remains in need of support in order to improve access to justice across Liberia. Ms. Mensa-Bonsu made the statement in Lofa County as she handed over to the judicial authorities of Liberia two newly constructed court houses in Kolahun and Foya districts. The buildings were funded through the UN Mission in Liberia Quick Impact Projects scheme.

An estimated 22,000 Ivorian Refugees crossed into Liberia between 24‐26 February 2011, more than half the total number of refugees registered between 29 November 2010 and 19 February 2011. Approximately 1,000 Ivorians had also crossed into Zwedru in the same period. The newly arrived refugees claim
they fled to Liberia following the recent clashes in Touleupleu (border with Zwedru), Zouan Houye and Bin Houye (border with Buutuo) areas of Cote d’Ivoire
