World Book and Copyright Day, otherwise know as “International Day of the Book “ is celebrated on April 23rd every year to honor the legacy of authors and composers in a bid to promote reading, publishing and copywriting (according to United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization- UNESCO).
This is because renowned authors including Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare and Garcilaso de la Vega all died on April 23rd, as a result, UNESCO and the World Body organize annual events in order to commemorate the Book and Copyright Day.
Against this backdrop, COSOL and the Liberia Association of Writers (LAW) is jointly hosting an essay competition to honor the meaningful contributions of Liberian authors and composers they have made towards fostering the educational and cultural heritage of Liberia.
