"Ministry of Health, NPHIL, and JFK Medical Center Dismiss Viral Ebola Rumors: Liberia Has No Suspected, Probable, or Confirmed Cases, Officials Confirm
BY: Rufus Divine Brooks Jr.
Monrovia — The Ministry of Health, the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), and the John F. Kennedy Medical Center (JFKMC) have jointly clarified that Liberia currently has no suspected, probable, or confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), despite misinformation circulating on social media.
In a joint statement, the institutions urged the public to remain calm and to avoid sharing unverified reports that could cause unnecessary panic and undermine public trust.
Officials stressed that only the Ministry of Health and NPHIL are authorized to report and communicate disease outbreaks in Liberia.
The government and its partners said surveillance and preparedness measures remain active across the country.
These include monitoring at health facilities and border points, public awareness campaigns, and coordination with the World Health Organization, U.S. CDC, Africa CDC, and regional health authorities.
Health officials are encouraging citizens to continue practicing basic preventive measures, including regular handwashing, avoiding contact with bodily fluids of sick individuals, and promptly reporting suspected illnesses to the nearest health facility.
The public is advised to rely solely on official updates from the Ministry of Health and NPHIL for accurate information".
