Anuradhapura is indeed the first capital city of Sri Lanka, situated in the North Central Province of the country. It holds significant historical and cultural importance as one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Anuradhapura served as the capital of Sri Lanka from the 4th century B.C. until the 11th century A.D., spanning over a period of more than a millennium.

Today, Anuradhapura is a UNESCO World Heritage site and attracts both local and international visitors who come to explore its historical treasures and soak in its spiritual ambiance. The city stands as a testament to Sri Lanka's rich cultural heritage and serves as a pilgrimage site for Buddhists.
