Southern Sri Lanka has a lot to do, lots of fascinating towns to visit, and the beauty of the coast.🌊

📍Location: Barberyn Island Lighthouse, Beruwala,

Barberyn Lighthouse is located on Barberyn Island. About 800 meters (0.5 miles) from the small town of Beruwala. This small eight-acre tropical island has had a lighthouse for over a century. Today, the Barberyn Lighthouse is one of the four international lighthouses in Sri Lanka.

This has built by British colonials in 1889, the Barberyn Lighthouse addressed the dangerous waters of Beruwala and the underwater coral reefs that could tear the bottom of the ship. The lighthouse was operated by the British Imperial Lighthouse Service. After the country's independence in 1948, management was taken over by the Sri Lankan government.🌴

There are some ruins from the British era. Some of them have large open windows with views of the postcards. As you roam the island, you'll also find an old ruined well that provided water to the locals.🗿

If you want to stop and take a break for a while, this is an ideal place. Check out this place if you want to extend your trip to southern Sri Lanka.💫
