Honda Civic FD1 එක factory condition එකෙන් එද්දි “daily comfort + fuel efficiency + durability” focus කරලා design කරපු car එකක්.

මොනවද මේ factory out condition නිසා මුහුණපාන්න පුළුවන් අවාසිදායක තත්වය ?

🔻 1. Pickup (Acceleration) අඩුයි

FD1 එකට තියෙන්නේ Honda R18A engine engine එක. මේක:

* SOHC i-VTEC system එක “fuel economy” focus කරලා tune කරලා තියෙන්නේ
* High RPM power boost එක (K-series වගේ aggressive VTEC kick එක) නෑ
* Torque output එක moderate (≈174Nm) – heavy body එකට ටිකක් මදි

👉 ඒකෙන් වෙන දේ:

* Standstill එකෙන් pull වෙද්දි sluggish feel එකක්
* Overtake කරනකොට downshift කරලා RPM build කරගන්න වෙනවා
* CVT / Auto gearbox වල throttle press කරාම immediate response එකක් නෑ

🔻 2. Petrol consumption (දහනය) වැඩියි

Theory එකට FD1 fuel efficient වුනත් practical use එකේ:

* Body weight ~1300kg → engine load වැඩි
* Auto transmission (especially torque converter) → fuel loss
* ලංකාවේ traffic condition + stop-go driving → consumption drop වෙනවා.

👉 Real World :

* City: ~7–9 km/L
* Heavy traffic: sometimes 6 km/Lටත් යනවා

👉 Main issue:

* Power / weight ratio balance එක perfect නෑ → throttle response time වැඩි කරන නිසා fuel පිච්චෙන ප්‍රමාණය වැඩියි.

🔻 3. Throttle response අඩුයි

FD1 එකේ තියෙන්නේ Drive-by-wire (electronic throttle) system එකක්.

👉 මේකේ:

* Accelerator pedal → ECU → throttle body (delay එකක් තියෙනවා)
* Smooth driving & emission control වලට factory tune එක කරලා තියෙන්නේ
* Sudden acceleration limit කරනවා (jerk avoid කරන්න) .

👉 ඒකෙන් වෙන්නේ:

* Pedal press කරාම instant jump එකක් නෑ (Quick Response එකක් නෑ.)
* Slight lag (especially low RPM)
* “rubber band feel” (auto gearbox + DBW combine වෙද්දි)

ප්‍රශ්න කතා කළා ඇති. දැන් අපි බලමු Stage 1 Tune එකකින් මේවාට ප්‍රතිකර්ම තියෙනවාද කියලා?

⚙️ Honda Civic FD1 එකට Stage 1 ECU remap කියන්නේ engine එක open නොකර (no internal mods), ECU software parameters optimize කරන එක. FD1 එකේ තියෙන factory conservative tuning එක නිසා Stage 1 tune එකෙන් noticeable change එකක් ගන්න පුළුවන්.

⚡ 1. Throttle Response Improve වෙනවා

Stage 1:

* Throttle map aggressive කරනවා
* Pedal input vs throttle opening ratio increase කරනවා

👉 Result:

* Car එක “light” feel වෙනවා
* Immediate pickup (especially low-mid RPM)
* City driving much more responsive

🚀 2. Pickup / Acceleration Improve වෙනවා

Honda R18A engine engine එක factory tune එකේ fuel economy focus.

Stage 1 changes:

* Ignition timing optimize
* Air-fuel ratio slightly richer under load
* Torque curve smooth + usable torque increase

👉 Result:

* 0–60 / overtaking better
* Gear shifts වල lag feel එක අඩු
* Mid-range (2k–4k RPM) noticeably strong)

📊 Expectation:

* +5 to +10 HP (huge number නෙවෙයි, but feelable gain)
* Torque delivery improve වෙනවා (number එකෙන් පොඩි ප්‍රමාණයක් වුනත් driving feel එක වැඩි වෙනවා)

🔧 4. Rev & Speed Limit Adjustments

Stage 1 tune එකේ:

* Rev limiter slightly increase (e.g. 6500 → ~6800 RPM)
* Speed limiter remove/adjust

👉 Result:

* Engine stretch කරන්න පුළුවන්
* Highway driving smoother (less restriction)

🧠 5. Gearbox Behavior (Auto models)

* Shift points optimize වෙනවා
* Downshift response improve වෙනවා

👉 Result:

* Less hesitation
* Better overtaking confidence

* Big power gains expect කරන්න බෑ
* Engine hardware same නිසා limits තියෙනවා

👉 Biggest gains:

Driveability + responsiveness (not raw power)
