It’s been a while since I’ve been on Safari, Yala leaves a bad taste in one’s mouth after been on a Jeep that’s racing against others to see the shadow of a Leopard that’s been terrified of all the incoming noise. Kumana, however is a different story.

Being accessible from the East Coast makes Kumana quite remote. During our morning Safari there we were in the park with 3 other jeeps. I highly recommend to guide you through the park. A naturalist whose extensive knowledge of the park and its inhabitants, which he has been documenting for years is reflected in his amazing ability to navigate the park and accurately track their movements.

My camera equipment is not fitted to capture wildlife. I mounted my sister’s old AF-S 85mm prime to my ZFS using a convertor which forced me to manually focus every photo I took. Many of the shots I took were not up-to standard but the patience of the naturalists allowed me to capture a few good ones.

This trip to Kumana has given me the push I needed to invest more time and energy into my photography again. So now I show for camera lenses that will leave me bankrupt, but full of pride for the art it helps me create .
