“Gal Oya is a less explored and one of the most remote Wilderness areas in Sri Lanka. The Senanayaka Samudra lake located in Gal Oya is the largest inland water body in the country has something quite spectacular happening in its waters. The elephant community which lives around the Gal Oya National park crosses the lake quite often and that has become their regular route down generations. A wild life enthusiast’s dream site, this has turned out to be the most spectacular way of watching elephants in the wild. The largest land animal swimming across a water body with it’s truck out of the surface is not something we come across every day. However this is a regular site at the Gal Oya Lodge. Water for Elephants maybe?”
