It is with profound sadness and deep reverence that we announce the passing of H.A. Karunaratne (1929–2026), the visionary 'Father of Abstract Art' in Sri Lanka.
We were privileged to host his final curated exhibition, which featured 55 of his remarkable creations at Gallery FourLife. His energy and effective involvement in curating the exhibition, particularly given his age, were truly exceptional. Dr. H. A. Karunaratne's contributions significantly expanded the horizons of modern Sri Lankan art.
We bid a silent farewell to a legendary artist of our era who elevated the Sri Lankan art scene to a visionary level.
