Afrofuturism is a contemporary aesthetic, philosophy of science, and philosophy of history that investigates the growing convergence between African diaspora culture and technology. Afrofuturism explores themes and issues of the African diaspora through technoculture and speculative fiction, including a variety of mediums and artists that have a common interest in imagining black futures based on Afro-diasporic experiences. While science fiction is most usually connected with Afrofuturism, it may also refer to other speculative genres such as fantasy, alternate history, and magic realism.
