WhatsApp users on Android! The latest beta version, 2.23.8.4, includes a new bottom navigation bar. This change aligns the Android and iOS versions, providing a consistent experience across all devices. The bar contains four options: Chats, Communities, Status, and Calls, and the redesign is similar to Google's design philosophy.

The update is currently rolling out through the Google Play Beta Program. However, it may not be immediately available to all users as it is still in development. Some users have requested this new feature, as the app's aesthetic hasn't kept up with Android's changes. With this update, the app's appearance should be more modern and consistent.

In addition to the navigation bar update, WhatsApp released a beta update, version 2.23.8.5, which lets you lock specific chats behind a passcode or fingerprint. This feature is a significant new security addition and may also be accessible from within the chat window.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also working on other features, such as an Instagram-style text editor and fingerprint authentication for chats. The app has had some issues in the past with features like polls, but updates have been released to fix them.

If you are an iOS user, you can also try out new features like the ability to keep time-restricted messages from disappearing by signing up for the TestFlight beta program. To keep a message on iOS, long-press on the chat and select "Keep" from the options.
