✨ The Astronomical Events for the month of June 2023 ✨
✨ June 4 - Full Moon
The Moon will be in its full phase and is almost 100% illuminated. The exact moment of Full Moon occurs at 11:41 PhST of the same day.
✨ June 5 - Venus at Greatest Eastern Elongation
Venus will reach its greatest angle of separation from the Sun for its 2023 evening apparition. Venus can be found shining brightly around 43° above the western horizon at sunset with an apparent magnitude of -4.3.
✨ June 10 - Conjunction of the Moon and Saturn
The Moon and Saturn will share the same right ascension and will appear close to each other in the early morning of June 10. On the same day, the Moon and Saturn will pass within 2°42' of each other at around 06:29 PhST, about an hour after sunrise. Both objects can be found in the constellation Aquarius and can be visible as they rise at 23:29 PhST of the previous night.
✨ June 11 - Moon at Last Quarter
The Moon will be about half illuminated as it reaches its Last Quarter phase. The Moon will rise around midnight and set around noon of June 11. The Moon will start to fade away from view once the Sun rises at around 05:29 PhST.
✨ June 17 - Conjunction of the Moon and Mercury
The Moon and Mercury will share the same right ascension and will appear close to each other in the early morning of Jun 17. However, the Moon will be close to its New Moon phase with almost 0% illumination. Both objects will also be rising above the eastern horizon about and hour before sunrise and will therefore be hard to find. Both objects will be located in the Ta**us constellation. Due caution is advised when observing objects near the Sun.
✨ June 18 - New Moon
The Moon enters the New Moon phase and will be near the Sun. Around New Moon, the Moon will not be visible. The exact moment of New Moon is at 12:38 PhST.
✨ June 21 - June Solstice
The June Solstice marks the time of the year when the Sun reaches its most northerly point in the sky for the year. During this time, most locations north of the equator experience their longest day length of the year while the opposite is true for most locations south of the equator. However, the amount of daylight may differ based on the location. June solstice marks the astronomical summer in the Northern Hemisphere and the astronomical winter in the Southern Hemisphere.
✨ June 22 - Close approach of the Moon and Mars
The Moon and Mars will appear close to each other on the evening of June 22. The Moon and Mars will pass within 3°34' of each other at around 20:54 PhST. The two celestial bodies are also in conjunction on the same day but at an earlier time of 18:10 PhST. However, this exact moment occurs before sunset. Both objects are located in the constellation Leo. Both objects will shine bright after sunset just above the western horizon.
✨ June 26 - Moon at First Quarter
The moon will be about half illuminated as it reaches its First Quarter phase. It will rise around noontime and set around midnight. It will reach its highest point in the evening sky just before sunset time.
