On November 4, 2024, a new milestone was reached for Sri Lanka’s transport enthusiasts with the launch of busfleet.lk — a comprehensive digital database dedicated to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus fleet.

This project is the result of over a decade of passion, dedication, and teamwork from a group of SLTB bus enthusiasts who wanted to create a reliable and easily accessible record of the nation’s bus fleet.

due to changes in the administrative structure of the SLTB over time, the head office did not always maintain complete fleet records. Therefore, this project will be extremely valuable for official reference and operational duties, in addition to serving bus enthusiasts and researchers.

Recognizing the importance of preserving this legacy, a group of bus enthusiasts, photographers, and transport admirers decided to compile fleet details — not just for reference, but to document the evolution of the public transport system itself.

What started as a hobby in 2009, through photography and visits to SLTB depots, gradually grew into a structured fleet documentation effort around 2017. After years of data gathering, busfleet.lk was launched to the public in 2024, replacing the earlier platform sltbfleet.blogspot.com.

On the early morning of May 11, 2025, this bus, which was operating from Kataragama to Kurunegala via Nuwara Eliya, veered off the Nuwara Eliya - Gampola main road and plunged into a precipice near the Garandi Ella area in Kotmale. ශ්‍රී ලංකා ගමනාගමන මණ්ඩලයේ (ශ්‍රී ලං.ග.ම.) කතරගම ඩිපෝව යටතේ ධාවනය වන ආසන 54 කින් යුත් අශෝක් ලේලන්ඩ් වයිකින්ග් 210 වර්ගයේ බස් රථයක් කුරුණෑගල දී. 2015 වසරේදී, බස් රථ 2200 ව්‍යාපෘතිය යටතේ ඩිපෝවට ලැබී ඇති රථය සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම ඉන්දියාවේ දී නිමවා ඇත. 2024 වසරේ ජුනි මස ඡායාරූපය ලබාගන්නා අවස්ථාවේ රථය මාර්ග අංක 10/2 යටතේ කතගම සිට කුරුණෑගල බලා ධාවනය වී ඇත. ඡායාරූපය : බිනෝද් රාජපක්‍ෂ.
2025 වසරේ මැයි මස 11 වන දින අලුයම මෙම බස් රථය කතරගම සිට නුවරඑළිය හරහා කුරුණෑගල දක්වා ධාවනය වන අතරතුර නුවරඑළිය - ගම්පොළ ප්‍රධාන මාර්ගයේ කොත්මලේ ගැරඬිඇල්ල ප්‍රදේශයේදී මාර්ගයෙන් ඉවතට පැන ප්‍රපාතයකට පෙරලීයෑමෙන් සිදුවූ අනතුරකින් පුද්ගලයින් විසි දෙදෙනෙකු ජීවිතක්ෂයට පත්ව 35කට අධික පිරිසක් තුවාල ලබා ඇති අතර අදාළ අනතුරෙන් බස් රථය සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම විනාශ වී ගොස් ඇත. ඡායාරූපය උපුටා ගැනීම: Accident 1st
