PROUD
Lucia, realizing the problem of Informal Settlements made a decision to rationalise the Public/Crown lands which had been occupied.
Excitement and anticipation keep mounting as more and more Saint Lucians from all walks of life, and all
across the length and breadth of the country, move ever closer to having their land occupation issues
finally resolved.
Over the past few months, the Program for the Regularization of Unplanned Development (PROUD),
housed within the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, has been holding engaging interactions
with residents in several parts of the island. Via those interventions, many are now well on their way to
gaining legal titles to lands which they have occupied for years.
The latest community to benefit is Augier, Vieux Fort, where residents as far as Cantonement, Pomme
and even Black Bay, are now eagerly anticipating finalization of cadastral surveys and long-awaited
infrastructural amenities.
