Matches will be set up against other inclusive teams (e.g women's, charities, LGBTQ+), which will enhance social cohesion. The project will also improve the physical and mental health of our participants, combatting social isolation and giving them opportunities to practice and learn English. We are called Renaissance FC as prior to reaching England these asylum seekers say they felt dead inside, and saw no future for themselves. Now they have settled in England they feel free and alive again. Their spirit has been revived. Renaissance FC is much more than just a football team. We want to be the foundation our players can grow from.
