Description: Krasocin is a village located in The Świętokrzyskie Mountains, in the south-central Poland. It's surrounded by forests and fields. The forests are full of hares and deer, the fields smell with flowers. Inhabitants of Krasocin love their own place, they are local patriots and many of them social-workers. There are a lot of historical events (e.g. reconstructions of battles). Many local kids have no chance to spend holidays outside their place of living because of their material situation. They don't have much opportunity to travel so we want to let the world come to them. Our aim is to build children's self-esteem and self-confidence, encourage them to speak English, teach tolerance and openness towards diversity, develop creativity. We invite volunteers full of ideas and positive energy.
Type of Work: Volunteers will be responsible for organizing activities (artistic, sport, educational, craft) for children who stay in their hometown for holidays. Volunteers will also assist during the trips to the swimming pool and to the cinema.
Accommodation: In school classrooms, sleeping on mattresses (volunteers should have their own sleeping bags).
Language: English.
Requirements: Strong interest in working with children, creativity, responsibility, positive energy. You're welcome to bring your own materials for activities with children and for intercultural evening.

PL-SCI 5.1 Art of living (Monar Marianówek, near Kołobrzeg)

Description: Poland has been successfully co-operating with Monar for 18 years already. Monar is the biggest Polish NGO which helps people in difficult life circumstances, those socially excluded and mainly with drug addiction problem. Monar runs 30 stationary centers of rehabilitation in different parts of Poland, 5 of them specialized particularly in the therapy of young people. The center in Marianówek is one of them. It is focused on drug addiction therapy of young people. It has a community of 70 youths, aged 15-25, coming from different backgrounds and areas of Poland, who take part in one-year stationary therapy. Beside dealing with daily life activities we use many different artistic, sport and outdoor events as tools in the process of therapy and rehabilitation.
Type of Work: The main task of volunteers is to socialize with the community by helping them in their everyday work (farm activities like gardening, taking care of animals, renovating, cleaning, kitchen shift, etc.), taking part in planned community events. Volunteers are more than welcome to share their interests, skills while organizing workshops, games or any other sort of activities they would like to propose. It is possible that for a few days during the workcamp volunteers will go together with the patients on a camping trip to the area at the sea/lakeside.
Study Theme: The problem of drug addiction, anti-drug therapy. Learning to live in a new, different way. Horse riding and possible canoeing.
Accommodation: In the house of the community, in one room. Simple conditions: mattresses or sleeping mats. Please, bring sleeping bags with you!

Approximate Location: It is situated about 20 km from the Baltic Sea (near Kołobrzeg), in the picturesque rural area with park, trout ponds and stable with horses around.

PL-SCI 5.4 Art of living II (Monar Wyszków, near Warsaw)

Description: SCI Poland has been successfully co-operating with Monar for 18 years already. Monar is the biggest Polish NGO dealing mainly with drug addicts. Monar runs 30 stationary centers of rehabilitation in different parts of Poland. The center in Wyszków is situated 50 km from Warsaw in the small, quiet town, next to the river, among fields and forests. In the center there are about 30 patients, between 18-30 years old, coming from different backgrounds and areas of Poland, who work and live together undergoing a group one-year long therapy. Beside dealing with daily life activities we use many different artistic, sport and outdoor events, volunteering in social centers for children, theater etc. as tools of therapy and rehabilitation. We also have a horse stud and use hippotherapy.
Type of Work: The main task of volunteers is to socialize with the community, by helping them in their everyday work (gardening, cleaning, working in the kitchen, renovating etc.) and taking part in leisure time activities with them. Games, camp-fires, sport activities, workshops with/for the residents will bring fresh energy and relaxation to the center. Depending on your willingness, you can take part in hippotherapy or go with our patients to visit children in socioterapeutic centers. It is possible that for a few days during the workcamp volunteers will go together with the patients on a camping trip to the area at the sea/lakeside.

PL-SCI 12.1 Art, Nature and Intercultural Exchange (Górki Wielkie, near Bielsko-Biała)

Description: Górki Wielkie is a beautiful village in the southern Poland, near the town Bielsko-Biała, close to Czech Republic and Slovakia. Gorki Wielkie is surrounded by mountains with multicoloured trees, nice birds and a river in which it is possible to swim, the Brennica. In addition to its picturesque setting, the village also lives culturally, mainly thanks to projects surrounding the museum devoted to a local writer, Zofia Kossak. Among these projects, a summer festival drains actors, musicians, painters and sculptors from across Europe to Gorki Wielkie every year.
Type of Work: One part of the work will be a logistical and organizational support to different events taking place during an art festival. The other part will be a physically demanding work of clearing around a building in ruin and its garden, as it is a necessary condition for its renovation. This building is a cultural centre to be.
Accommodation: The accommodation for the work camp will be in dorms in the “Schronisko Koss”, a youth hostel just next to the museum.
Language: English will be the official language but high level is NOT required.
Approximate Location: Górki Wielkie is a beautiful village in the southern Poland, near the town Bielsko-Biała. Situated in the middle of a triangle between Cracow, the 2nd largest city in Poland (90km), Ostrava in the Czech Republic (50km) and Zilina in Slovakia (90km), it is the perfect place for an intercultural work camp and offers the possibility to travel to any of these three countries very easily.
Notes: Volunteers may come with their own materials for intercultural cooperation: music, games, photos and sports materials.
