«Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications» has been carrying its activities since 1975. AUPET is among the leaders of the National Ranking of Higher Education Institutions in power engineering, telecommunications and IT- technology. Current enrollment exceeds 4600 students ( more than 300 master's and doctoralcandidates) including more than 50 students from abroard.
The university offers 12 B.S. programs:

5В071900 –Radio engineering, electronics and telecommunications;

5В081200 – Power supply of agriculture;
5В071600 – Instrument making;
5В071200 – Information security systems.
AUPET is a research center of Power Engineering, Telecommunications, IT- technology. 20 doctoral and more than 200 candidates of science theses were defended. More than 500 monographs and 5000 research articleswere published, over 500 inventor’s certificates and patents were received. The university has a unique educational and scientific equipment, educational television, more than 1000 modern computers, more than 30 computer classes with an access to the Internet, including 3 classes in students’ dormitories.

6М071800 – Electric power engineering;
6М071900 –Radio engineering, electronics and telecommunications;
5М070300 – Information systems;
5M070400 – Computer engineeringand software;
6М073100 – Personal and social safety and environmental protection in 3 doctoral degree programs (PhD’s):
6D071700 – Heat power engineering;
6D071800 – Electric power engineering;
6D071900 – Radio engineering, electronics and telecommunications.
Masters and doctoral candidates are engaged in research activities based on the thematic centers and laboratories, as «Renewable energy and new technologies in energy conservation» «Electronic systems and technologies»; «Measurements and automation»; «Water technologies and water chemical modes»; «Fuel and energy complex problems study»; «Studying the problems of fuel-energy complex»; «Industrial Ecology»; «Energy»; «Information Technologies»; «Nanoelectronics»; «Automated control systems of engineering process»; «The innovative energy systems»; «Electrical laboratory».
