Powder Nomads
FREERIDE PROJECT IN KAZAKHSTAN
“Powder” - Pow (Pow-Pow): Light, dry, fluffy snow referred to normally as powder. You can eat this all day long and never get full.

A great experience with the team from Germany - exploring two different areas in the Altai Mountains.
First place felt more infrastructured, easier access, smoother flow. Then we moved deeper into a more wild and remote terrain, where you really feel closer to nature.
Different conditions, different landscapes, but the same spirit all the way. Most of the time human-powered. Step by step, earning every turn.
We tried catskiing once (first but not the only for the team), but in the end… ski touring stayed the favorite.
Glad we made this trip happen.
Always inspired to share these moments with the right people.
Powder doesn’t live in your phone.
It waits for you out here.
Come ride it in Kazakhstan mountains.

Exploring the sacred corners of the Kazakh Altai is never only about mountains, snow or ski touring. It’s a multi-layered adventure into raw wilderness, remote villages rarely touched by tourism, ancient nomadic traditions and shamanic beliefs… and, somewhere along the way, into your own inner cosmos.
Together with our guests from Italy and Ski Maestro we immersed into the wild beauty of Katon-Karagai National Park - a place where winter still lingers, where the world feels distant, and silence becomes something you can truly hear.
And through all these days, we were held under the watch of the goddess Umai and the sacred Belukha Mount. Her twin white peaks shimmering in the distance,
quietly sending us her blessing and protection.
Thank you to our guests for the trust and the courage to travel this far, to a land full of mystery, hidden deep in the far East of Kazakhstan.

A day adventure with JG and our guide Alexander
JG landed from Japan to explore our region. We picked a location close to the city with very early start. Within an hour, we were skinning up the valley. Perfect weather let us spend the whole day in the mountains, and a light breeze kept the snow from melting.
JG mentioned that back home he usually does shorter touring sessions, and today was his longest so far. We even found some great snow at the top in the late afternoon. Back in the city with tired legs and happy faces - what a wonderful day we had!
More backcountry trips on higher altitudes ahead, stay tuned!

That was a true alpine experience for the whole crew who came straight from Italy to discover what winter in Kazakhstan really feels like.
A tight group of friends from the same hometown moving as one unit. From the very first meters of skinning it was obvious: strong engines, good technique, and the right mindset. No warm-up days needed. They were ready to go deep from the start.
The mountains didn’t make it easy.
Day one: snowfall, wind, flat light. Proper welcome.
Then came the bluebird skies… and -30°C. The kind of cold that freezes your beard, your gloves, and sometimes your thoughts. But that’s also when the snow turns into pure magic.🪄❄️
Cold smoke. Stable layers. Endless options.
Conditions like this allow you to open the map a little wider and choose “special” lines, the ones you remember long after the trip is over.
Almost a week of touring sessions, climbing in silence, sharing thermos breaks in the cold, dropping one by one into untouched faces. No rush, no ego, just mountains, friendship, and strong skiing.
Every stage of the adventure went smoothly. Challenging weather, freezing temperatures, changing visibility, none of it stopped the team from enjoying each day to the fullest.
This is why we do what we do.
To connect people with wild terrain.
To create stories that stay longer than the frostbite.
To share our home mountains the right way.
Grateful to make it happen 🤍
