💡 Our speaker is Dr Beverly Pasian from Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. One of the best decisions of her professional life was to turn her focus toward understanding the role of projects in contributing to quality-of-life in smart cities. Within her newly complete 2023 doctoral study, analysis of 4000+ projects along with case studies of eight cities clearly shows how projects—categorized as necessities, exciters, and desirables—achieve this along 13 quality-of-life dimensions. Improved smart city planning could occur immediately along two levels. The first concerns sharing and encouraging the adoption of the 13 dimensions researched here. The cities of this research offer models of their use and could be easily shared. The second concerns the more specific project examples gathered herein. Project planners could, after a careful review of the hundreds of project examples available through this research, select those of most relevance and value to their specific cities. This webinar can start these discussions.
