Phnom Penh: On May 23, 2025, the Child Rights Foundation, in collaboration with the Department of Primary Education of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, held a workshop titled “Closing Ceremony of the Cha-Ching Money Smart Kids-Phase II Project” The event was chaired by Dr. Kan Puthy, Director of the Department of Primary Education.
The workshop brought together representatives from various relevant departments and partners, the Prudential Foundation/Prudential Cambodia, national and sub-national project implementation committees, and 94 teachers, including 33 women. During the session, the conclusion of the project Phase II was officially announced to stakeholders across the five capital provinces: Phnom Penh, Kandal, Kampong Cham, Kampot, and Siem Reap. Participants shared knowledge, experiences, and best practices regarding the implementation of the Basic Financial Literacy Education (Cha-Ching) across all 300 targeted schools. Valuable feedback was also collected from stakeholders to inform the next phase of the project.

Kampot and Siem Reap Provinces: From February 27 to March 1, 2025, the Child Rights Foundation and the Primary Education Department organized a training course titled “Basic Financial Education Program for Cha-Ching Children Linked to Local Life Skills Education.” This course was designed for the National and sub-national Cha-Ching working groups in five provincial capitals: Phnom Penh, Kandal, Kampong Cham, Kampot, and Siem Reap. A total of 76 participants attended, 31 of whom were female.
The training aimed to introduce the policy and implementation of Local Life Skills Education (LLSE) and the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methodology, apply with the 6-stage Life Skills Model and Project-Based Learning (PJBL), Provided a supportive environment for active learning by integrating ICT tools for teaching and learning in the Local Life Skills Education Program and the Volunteer for My Community (VMC) program in schools. Additionally, participants prepared teaching, and implementation plans for the Local Life Skills Program in their schools.

On March 28, 2025, the Child Rights Foundation and the Primary Education Department held an annual project reflection meeting to review the progress of the Basic Financial Education Program for Phase 2, Year 3. The event took place at Tonle Bassac 2 Restaurant in Phnom Penh. The opening ceremony was presided over by Ms. Kong Sopheavotey, Deputy Director of the Primary Education Department and the closing ceremony was led by His Excellency Dr. Chan Sophea, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

The meeting aimed to evaluate the implementation progress of the Basic Financial Education Program "Cha-Ching", strengthen the working mechanisms of both national and sub-national project implementation committees, and enhance support for the program’s effective ex*****on. Additionally, the meeting sought to prepare a strategic plan for the next phase of the program. Attendees included leaders from the Department of Primary Education and the national and sub-national project implementation committees from the Kampot, Siem Reap, and Kampong Cham provinces, totaling 62 participants, of whom 24 were women.

Siem Reap and Kampot: On February 14, 2025, The Primary Education Department, in collaboration with the Child Rights Foundation and the Departments of Education, Youth, and Sports from Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, and Kampot Provinces, convened a meeting to summarize the progress of the Cha-Ching basic financial education program, Phase 2, Year 3, Semester 1. The meeting aimed to review the implementation progress of the program, enhance the working mechanisms of both national and sub-national project implementation committees, and develop an action plan for the next steps in the Cha-Ching program. A total of 46 (20 female) participants attended, including leaders from the Primary Education Department of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, and representatives from the national and sub-national project implementation committees.
