Prof. Laban Ayiro

I officially opened the 5th Learning and Design Lab in Kenya at Daystar University , co-hosted with the University of South Wales, UK, under the UK–Kenya University Partnerships funded by British Council Kenya . This Lab will deepen the value of international academic partnership in promoting innovation, research, student engagement, and enabling the co-creation and co-design of solutions to contemporary challenges, together with our industry partner, Carbon Zero Mobility. I convey sincere appreciation to the UK government, British Council, the University of South Wales, Circle Innovation, and Carbon Zero Mobility for this collaboration.

It was an honor to consult with H.E. Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o on the forthcoming RAO2026 Memorial Conference on Communication and Politics, which Daystar University will host in August 2026 at KICC, Nairobi.

The conference, under the theme “Future-Proofing Democracy: Resilience, Adaptation and Opportunity,” will provide a vital platform for scholars, leaders, policymakers, and citizens to reflect on the enduring legacy of the Right Honourable Raila Amollo Odinga and to engage the continuing task of strengthening democracy, accountable governance, and resilient institutions in Kenya and beyond.

I am deeply honoured that the Daystar University Student Association is hosting The L.A.P Run (Laban Ayiro Peter Run) Half-Marathon in my name. I receive this honour with gratitude. I would love for this to be a day where we come together as one community: students, alumni, partners, neighbours, and friends across Kenya. On Saturday, 7 March 2026, we will run for a cause that speaks to the very soul of Daystar; supporting persons living with disabilities and the underprivileged within our community. Every registration, every sponsorship, and every cheer along the route becomes a statement of dignity, inclusion, and shared humanity.
