of fees for many secondary schools, has occasioned a demand for complementary schools (not government schools and not mainstream private schools). Many of these are run on an almost voluntary basis with school administrators doing their best to provide a quality education with very limited resources. Many of these secondary schools lack science equipment that the students need to successfully complete their course work. A lack of access to the right equipment means that students from these complementary schools cannot compete in Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education examinations on a level playing field with counterparts. This is because many of these students encounter the science equipment for the first time in the examination room, having had no prior practice with it. The result is that they fail their examinations and stolen from them is their opportunity to participate fully, or at all, in society academically and professionally. Kamuki Science seeks to address this challenge.
