β¨ Moon
π
π Origin : The prevailing theory is that the EarthβMoon system formed after a giant impact of a Mars-sized body with the Earth. The oblique impact blasted material into orbit about the Earth and the material accreted and formed the Moon. The origin of the Moon is not yet completely known
π Name : The Latin name for the Moon is lΕ«na
π The gravitational attraction that Earth and the Moon (and the Sun) exert on each other manifests in a slightly greater attraction on the sides closest to each other, resulting in tidal forces. Ocean tides are the most widely experienced result of this, but tidal forces also considerably affect other mechanics of Earth, as well as the Moon and their system.
π The Moon is Earth's only permanent natural satellite
π The Moon always shows Earth the same face. The Moon is in synchronous rotation with Earth
π A major geologic process that has affected the Moon's surface is impact cratering, with craters formed when asteroids and comets collide with the lunar surface. The dark circles on the Moon visually show the impact craters.
π Trace amounts of Water exist on the Moon. This is in the form of ice trapped within dust and minerals on and under the surface.
π First landing on Moon : First landing on Moon : Apollo 11 was the first spaceflight to land humans on the Moon, conducted by NASA from July 16 to 24, 1969. Commander Neil Armstrong and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin landed the Lunar Module Eagle on July 20 at 20:17 UTC, and Armstrong became the first person to step on the Moon.
π There have been No Moon landings since 1972
