Ukrainian forces say they have captured a Ugandan national fighting for Russia in Ukraine. This is the first publicly known case involving a Ugandan citizen, and only the second documented capture from East Africa, after Evans Kibet, a Kenyan national captured earlier. He was captured by soldiers of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade near the city of Lyman in Donetsk region.
The man, says he was promised civilian work in Russia but ended up in the war after being forced to sign a military contract.
