Ethiopia's leather industry on a roll; young Kenyan shoe designer heads to Addis to seek his fortune Emo Rugene is the designer and founder of the shoe brand Afroshoes, creating African-inspired shoe designs mostly made of Ankara fabric since 2012.

The color of the Ardhi Nyala sneaker is influenced by the red earth found in game parks like in the Tsavo, Kenya that gives it that feel of fertility. It is characterized by a sheep leather upper and topped up with a durable off white rubber sole.
