CONSUMER RIGHTS OFFENDERS SUSPECTS IN COURTS
TWO Consumer Rights offenders have this morning been arraigned in Courts following complaints by members of the public of rampant sales of expired products; an offence punishable and prosecutable under the Consumer Protection Act no. 46 of 2012 Laws of Kenya.
The Consumer Protection Organization lodged complains with the National Police Service through the Kenya Police Service in Baricho Kirinyaga County and the matter was taken up by Sub- County Police Baricho who swiftly seized the expired goods and apprehended the offenders.
In the company of officials who identified the said premises, the Police apprehended the perpetrators who were charged in Baricho Law Courts on the 13th of November 2025.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Kenya through did not object the suspects plea for bail and each was granted a cash bail of Kshs 50,000 pending hearing. The Consumer Protection Act gives penalty of up to kshs 1 million if found guilty.
