True representation goes beyond numbers, it’s about having a voice, having influence, and taking action.

Across Kenya, women make up more than half the population but hold only about 22% of seats in the National Assembly. Research shows this gap begins within political parties themselves, where many constitutions, manifestos, and nomination rules fail to fully reflect women’s priorities and participation.

Next week, KEPHRA will host the National Women League Convention for women leaders of the United Green Movement Party, supported by the ENoP WYDE Project , to try and change that narrative. They’ll review key party documents to ensure they truly speak to women’s realities in politics.

We can’t wait to engage with these powerful women who are already influencing political engagement at local level.

When women understand the rules, they are better placed to shape them!

The Kisii County Committee on Agriculture held a sensitization workshop on the County Food and Nutrition Security (CFNS) Draft Bill, 2025, at Nyakoe Hotel on October 3, 2025. The workshop was supported by KEPHRA in collaboration with the County Government of Kisii.

The session was officially opened by the Chief Officer for Fisheries, Livestock, and Veterinary Services, Ms. Agnes Choti, who emphasized the importance of an inclusive and well-informed legislative process to strengthen food and nutrition security across the county.

During the proceedings, the Chair of the County Assembly Agriculture Committee, Hon. Ibrahim Machiki, joined other members in following the detailed presentations and discussions. Advocate Mark Magugu from the Kisii County Attorney’s Office took the committee members through the provisions of the CFNS Draft Bill, highlighting its key objectives, policy linkages, and implementation framework.

The workshop provided a platform for members of the Agriculture Committee to deepen their understanding of the Bill and offer input that will guide its refinement ahead of its presentation to the Assembly.
